My affinity for IT combines well with Mysolution’s traineeship
My name is Jos Ritmeester, 27 years old and working as a Trainee IT Implementation Consultant at Mysolution since February 2022. In 2013 I started with the bachelor Information Science at the University of Utrecht because it fitted well with my affinity for IT and my need to work with IT processes in a social/interactive way. Subsequently, I did the master in Business Informatics. I completed this in April 2021.
After completing my college and master’s degree, I did not immediately know what I wanted to do next. The job market was desperate for IT professionals and I couldn’t see the forest through the trees. I then decided to give myself some time to look for a job, by taking it easy over the summer and working in water sports (in which I already had experience). So I spent a summer teaching wakeboarding and water skiing. At the end of the summer, something wonderful came my way: the company event of Mysolution.
Blessing in disguise
You wouldn’t be able to imagine it beforehand, but the founder of Mysolution, Jan Beekman, Team Leader Mathijs van den Bedem and a group of trainees came to my place for an afternoon of water sports. The trainees had successfully completed their traineeship and that was celebrated on the water.
Unfortunately for Jan (and fortunately for me), Jan got injured so we got talking on the waterfront. It soon became apparent that our areas of interest and enthusiasm overlapped, so we exchanged contact information. The next day I had received a message from Jan: “Would you like to come by, in Houten, to discuss some job opportunities?”
From training to implementation
Since then, my enthusiasm to get started at Mysolution grew. Three interviews were scheduled for me with colleagues from Mysolution, and after each interview I went home with a nice feeling; everyone is passionate, hard-working but most of all very open and sociable. So it was not a difficult choice for me when Jeremy, the Recruiter at Mysolution, finally asked if I wanted to get started as an IT Trainee Implementation Consultant.
In the past few months I have learned a lot about consulting, Salesforce implementations, time management and teamwork. At the beginning of the traineeship, you attend training sessions and observe other consultants. Slowly you get more responsibilities and face bigger and bigger challenges. For example, after four months I got my first ‘own’ client to implement our software, aka Mysolution Recruiting Software!
You are not just thrown into the void. Support is provided continuously and you always have someone to fall back on. Therefore, it is okay to not know things, make mistakes and ask questions. In the end, we all want to learn and grow together.
I am super happy with my choice to take my time, calmly weigh all the choices, and I ultimately chose Mysolution because of this. Sometimes something beautiful comes your way when you least expect it. And in this case, I found a great job in a great company!
